Radaint heat

Radiant Floor Heat

Radiant heating systems supply heat directly to the floor of a house. The systems depend largely on radiant heat transfer -- the delivery of heat directly from the hot surface to the people and objects in the room via infrared radiation. Radiant heating is the effect you feel when you can feel the warmth of a hot stovetop element from across the room. When radiant heating is located in the floor, it is often called radiant floor heating or simply floor heating.

Radiant heating has a number of advantages. It is more efficient than baseboard heating and usually more efficient than forced-air heating because it eliminates duct losses. People with allergies often prefer radiant heat because it doesn’t distribute allergens like forced air systems can. Hydronic (liquid-based) systems use little electricity, a benefit for homes off the power grid or in areas with high electricity prices. Hydronic systems can use a wide variety of energy sources to heat the liquid, including standard gas- or oil-fired boilers, wood-fired boilers, solar water heaters, or a combination of these sources.

ERV/HRV

Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) systems deliver fresh, outdoor air for good indoor air quality without the associated energy penalty.  By recovering a high percentage of the energy contained in the stale indoor air they exhaust outdoors, ERV systems use this energy to moderate the extremes of temperature and humidity of the incoming fresh ventilation air. Confidently ventilate without the traditional energy penalty!

Homes have become better insulated and air tight, the need for fresh outdoor air delivered to the indoor environment has never been more important. That’s why many professionals involved in the building industry as well as building code officials recommend — and in many cases require — that outdoor air ventilation systems be installed.

Heat Pumps

Heat pumps offer an energy-efficient alternative to furnaces and air conditioners. Like your refrigerator, heat pumps use electricity to move heat from a cool space to a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During the heating season, heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house and during the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors. Because they move heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can provide up to 4 times the amount of energy they consume.

  • Heat pumps can supply heat, cooling, and hot water.
  • Your climate and site will determine the type of heat pump most appropriate for your home.
  • USED FOR FORCED AIR OR HOT AND COLD WATER FOR RADIANT HEATING

Geothermal

Geothermal heating and cooling uses the relatively constant temperature of the earth to heat and cool homes and businesses with 40% to 70% less energy than conventional systems. While conventional furnaces and boilers burn a fuel to generate heat, geothermal heat pumps use electricity to simply move heat from the earth into buildings, allowing much higher efficiencies. The most efficient fuel-burning heater can reach efficiencies around 95%, but a geothermal heat pump can move up to 4 units of heat for every unit of electricity needed to power the system, resulting in a practical equivalence of over 400% efficiency.

Most notably as the geothermal industry’s first fully launched variable capacity residential unit and the only unit to surpass both the 41.0 EER and 5.3 COP efficiency barriers. These ratings are vastly greater than ordinary conditioning systems and 30% higher than current two-stage geothermal heat pumps.
